Into its eighth year now, Indha has touched the lives of scores of women, lifting them out of poverty and giving them a reason to smile. At Indha, women receive vocational training in sewing, tailoring, block printing, vermi-compost, leaf plate making, manufacturing recycled and handmade paper and all kinds of paper products.Pallavi Choprahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09045602062309188862noreply@blogger.comBlogger38125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6835535455599629963.post-87828061266765718192014-11-30T00:13:00.001+05:302014-11-30T00:13:19.975+05:30Its all about Women Empowerment and Many Multi National companies are supporting sustained social enterprise<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">

Challenging because of the time, having been a full time student and worked part-time on campus in university, I had to ensure that I did a certain number of sales within a week. Satisfying on the other hand, because I pushed myself to a great extent where I discovered effective ways to fund-raise which ultimately became my greatest strengths. Part of the process was talking to professors and students who were passionate about education, girl’s rights, development and human rights and <st1:country-region st="on">India</st1:country-region> where I got to learn about other NGOs in Africa and <st1:place st="on">Asia</st1:place> and development models in the field of education. It was wonderful to see the humbling appreciation by the <span class="GramE">students <span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>and</span> professors of the products, not only were they interested in the products, I was able to engage them in a discussion about Literacy India’s work and their method of imparting education and finding means to achieve livelihood.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>In 3 semesters, I was able to fund-raise CND $ 2965. </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;">This experience by far has been one the greatest one and I urge everyone to support organizations like Literacy India who tirelessly works towards their cause to generate educated and self-reliant Indians. </span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;">Written by <br /></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify"> <p style="mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto" class="MsoNormal"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Times New Roman','serif'; COLOR: navy; FONT-SIZE: 10pt"><b>Harparamjot Hans (Remy)</b></span><b><span style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Times New Roman','serif'; COLOR: navy; FONT-SIZE: 10pt"></span></b></p><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;"><br /></span><p></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; mso-bidi-font-family:Arial;"><o:p> </o:p></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify"><o:p> </o:p></p>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08472743870445753944noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6835535455599629963.post-28832202105876022252010-06-29T22:10:00.002+05:302010-06-29T22:13:46.862+05:30BAGHI SAMRAAT<span class="Apple-style-span" style=" border-collapse: collapse; color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family:verdana;"><b><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:Arial;color:#354258;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: normal;"><u><object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/CHEkgztYze0&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/CHEkgztYze0&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object></u></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" border-collapse: collapse; color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family:verdana;"><b><br /></b></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: normal; "><b><div style="text-align: justify; display: inline !important; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: normal; "><b>The costumes made by INDHA Women and Children of Literacy India on a stage show in Delhi/ chandigarh / Millimeter as Samraat in Rustam - Sohrab `s adaptation - BAGHI SAMRAAT</b></span></div></b></span></div></b></span>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08472743870445753944noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6835535455599629963.post-90993103819107462372010-06-22T20:51:00.006+05:302010-06-22T21:07:35.688+05:30Newspaper coverage of Chandigarh Show by Literacy India Children<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_hZ-6E4LPqb4/TCDWm3mgB2I/AAAAAAAACGY/LOvf8pfMGU0/s1600/scan0006.jpeg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 306px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_hZ-6E4LPqb4/TCDWm3mgB2I/AAAAAAAACGY/LOvf8pfMGU0/s400/scan0006.jpeg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5485620309386069858" /></a><span style="font-weight:bold;"><div style="text-align: justify;">On the 4th of June 2010 LI children staged the play “Baghi Samrat” at the BAL Bhawan in Chandigarh. This was their chance to showcase their talent in various activities such as theatre, animation movies, dance and music. The event was well attended by various schools and corporate associates of Literacy India.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhD1MrrHlWGWAXI26AZA6ehiU8mh6ERbw0sC-UPXWg-CFFcyw3Xki7tVzlo5mE9y9Mik5yUWVDenJKo-yNGGHHwEr31goYZtYmiaajS2Ye7Ofsot9tkX7N6o1-I-i4Q9EI6J-XHAiqshtnq/s1600-h/Dance.jpeg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 134px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhD1MrrHlWGWAXI26AZA6ehiU8mh6ERbw0sC-UPXWg-CFFcyw3Xki7tVzlo5mE9y9Mik5yUWVDenJKo-yNGGHHwEr31goYZtYmiaajS2Ye7Ofsot9tkX7N6o1-I-i4Q9EI6J-XHAiqshtnq/s200/Dance.jpeg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5413183927145365154" /></a> On day one, the kids presented some foot-tapping dance performances, animation movies made by them, entertaining but meaningful plays and much more. They also had an interactive session with Kapil Dev, captain of world cup winning Indian Cricket team and Navin Gulia, a former army officer who runs an organization ADAA that works for street children despite being confined to a wheelchair for the last 14 years. He is a recipient of a number of prestigious awards such as Haryana Gaurav Award, Indian people of the Year Award, global Indian of the year, Kavincare Ability Mastery Award, and National role Model award.<br /><br />Kapil Dev stressed on the value of kids being a better citizen rather than just a better doctor, engineer or cricketer. <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3o_rtI5zyC6NXsj7hIOw9HYFN-z3Vf5npqLzyoo_nZQMbQw81kLJFycKuaeDYRfnolX6zOyvEhyphenhyphenpnsHB_jB7mmr-4B4tzmHF3ULDuktM1saKBTcpQykc0a-stevqfNk2xmGRL2oUtJNYF/s1600-h/Dance2.jpeg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 134px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3o_rtI5zyC6NXsj7hIOw9HYFN-z3Vf5npqLzyoo_nZQMbQw81kLJFycKuaeDYRfnolX6zOyvEhyphenhyphenpnsHB_jB7mmr-4B4tzmHF3ULDuktM1saKBTcpQykc0a-stevqfNk2xmGRL2oUtJNYF/s200/Dance2.jpeg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5413184406756071122" /></a> <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZte6D0nLEoCk7-_s0aGk2M-5LwLn2lnm68UbRLPgzjbNYBBO4YMc1-r1UUNKW8dgxfsjQQ_Vj4y6vCNNHiw_QdvMzQSHVniytC3EXwJFh2rN7KD9m27hmzCwgiNzPBLvcFgBu8-QwzLr2/s1600-h/KapilDev.jpeg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 134px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZte6D0nLEoCk7-_s0aGk2M-5LwLn2lnm68UbRLPgzjbNYBBO4YMc1-r1UUNKW8dgxfsjQQ_Vj4y6vCNNHiw_QdvMzQSHVniytC3EXwJFh2rN7KD9m27hmzCwgiNzPBLvcFgBu8-QwzLr2/s200/KapilDev.jpeg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5413184403706113522" /></a> He answered many questions by the children on various aspects of child rights. Based on the Persian play Rustam-Sohrab, this story unfolds in a small village in Bihar named Mirzapur. This is a village that has given birth to brave men, but is now plagued with false egos, religious conflicts, and political and emotional issues. The music in the play is from an upcoming album by Phat-phish records and has voices of singers like Kailash Kher, Bombay Jaishree, Naresh Aiyar, Malgudi Shubha, Kartick Das Boul and Sayoun. The play is directed with a unique DEKH KE concept that brings the complexities of a film set, right on stage.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihQy0z3dAyIsLuJy9NouDSCFIUjjRP1waXyjWMJNcRHhhwTUocsPxD2TPnfgMn2XttsHQm6kVir7w5-PEL32bYVbSlz4pTAg89dFlf_J7ZKaUY_9zFIwZdduGFC4v1QB35cpwxW5edc_2c/s1600-h/StarNewsAnchor.jpeg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 134px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihQy0z3dAyIsLuJy9NouDSCFIUjjRP1waXyjWMJNcRHhhwTUocsPxD2TPnfgMn2XttsHQm6kVir7w5-PEL32bYVbSlz4pTAg89dFlf_J7ZKaUY_9zFIwZdduGFC4v1QB35cpwxW5edc_2c/s200/StarNewsAnchor.jpeg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5413185272259844018" /></a> <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQNKBRZ__yKHSAk8QFLUwXU5mJoGEKy-C5WeZeR3rntGbiCq4POyR9BfjUtLsM9J5c98b1gSp7-xskYUVXT4XHux5k4Lx9FndhVQxzR3RLbCg3jxarc4DgwQ0JlWUVyQKlJMlLSJn1EELK/s1600-h/ThisOneIsCute.jpeg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 134px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQNKBRZ__yKHSAk8QFLUwXU5mJoGEKy-C5WeZeR3rntGbiCq4POyR9BfjUtLsM9J5c98b1gSp7-xskYUVXT4XHux5k4Lx9FndhVQxzR3RLbCg3jxarc4DgwQ0JlWUVyQKlJMlLSJn1EELK/s200/ThisOneIsCute.jpeg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5413185270480832626" /></a> The plays had been directed by the Star TV’s Sansani fame Shrivardhan Trivedi and designed by Nikhil Raj.
